A NEW ERA
Welcome to the July – September issue of Modern Barber, notice anything different? Having served as Modern Barber Editor for the last three issues I have loved getting to know YOU. Meeting barbers across the business who are not only changing the industry but the communities around them gave me the inspiration to make some changes myself – so consider this the official ‘new look’ issue and a commitment to delivering quality industry news, interviews, stories and advice.
In this, our ‘new era’ issue we discuss the future of the industry with experts from across the world of barbering from software companies, your favourite brands and of course some of the best barbers in the business.
And with a fresh look comes a fresh lineup for the Modern Barber stage at this year’s Salon International. I can’t wait for you to see the barbers who will be sharing their skills and wisdom on our stage across the three days, along with all the brands who will be showcasing in our official Barber Zone. This year’s Salon International is one that’s not to be missed, as barbering continues to make its mark across the hair industry.
I’m also excited to introduce our brandnew features designed to inspire and delve into the creative minds behind some of our best known barbers. We’ve got an in-depth chat with cover stars Luca Jones and Scott Humphreys in The Interview as well as the effortlessly cool, Dexter ‘Dapper’ Johnson in #TrendTalks.
Our Community section remains strong, and in this issue, I had the pleasure of interviewing educators and inmates from HMP Nottingham. There’s no better issue to feature the work being done at the prison to give people a second chance, and I would strongly recommend giving this one a read and thinking about how you can support ex-offenders who are making changes in order to return to the world of work.
As you read this issue, I hope you’ll find that it has been created with barbers like you in mind. We may have changed our look but Modern Barber is still here to offer the same support and give you the tools to motivate yourself as it always has – so dive in and let us know what you think!
