MB ON TOUR: MANIFESTO MINGLE
AND EDUCATION WITH THEIR INAUGURAL MINGLE EVENT AT RADIO, LONDON 024 MANIFESTO HOSTED AN EXCLUSIVE NIGHT OF NETWORKING
On Monday 4 November Manifesto held their first MINGLE networking event at Radio King’s Cross, in partnership with Modern Barber and Haircuts4Homeless (H4H).
The event brought together barbers, educators, and creatives from across the country for a night of networking and inspiration. Co-owner of Manifesto, Mikey Pearson explained: “The reason we planned this event was to offer a unique opportunity for industry professionals to connect with like-minded peers, learn from one another, and experience the Manifesto ethos first-hand. There’s a great spirit of collaboration in the barbering world, but not always enough opportunities to really get together in a more personal way and celebrate the world we work in.”
Guests were able to walk around, get up close and ask questions. Four Manifesto stylists – Rino Riccio, Tom Forde, Matt Gavin and Shaafi Parvez shared their mood board inspiration and demonstrated the latest trends at floor level, showcasing some of the insider secrets that make the Manifesto brand tick.
Tom led the closing comments, sharing: “I sectioned out the crown and sides, working with a square shape all the way round the head, and worked visually to take away the weight where it was needed.” Meanwhile Shaafi and Matt were both inspired by the subcultures and club scenes of London. “My model was inspired by the club scene in Kings Cross in the late 80s and 90s where Manifesto is based. I wanted to style the hair in a way that made it look like he’d been to an all-nighter,” shared Shaafi, whilst Matt delved deeper into the cross over from one subculture to another. He focused on “that period in the middle from Punk to New Romantic or Mod into Punk. That moment in fashion that’s in between.”
Rino closed the evening by explaining his process of working visually: “I started with an idea and was sharing it with everyone but in the end it was nice to see the progress and how I changed it last minute. This is what happens every day in the salon.”
The night was also hosted with Haircuts4Homeless and all proceeds (a total of £756) were donated to support their incredible work. Mikey went on to say: “We have a close link with H4H and it’s a cause very close to our hearts. It was important to us to raise not just money, but awareness and we’re proud that we were able to do that.” Guest of honour, Stewart Roberts from H4H said: “H4H is 10 years old this year and the work doesn’t stop. In fact, it’s 10 times more necessary. We’re in desperate need of funds now more than ever and we appreciate every single contribution to the charity. People can donate via the link on our website haircuts4homeless.co.uk or through our Insta bio on @haircuts4homelessuk.”
