MODERN BARBER STAGE

THE MB STAGE LINE-UP FEATURED A MIX OF MASTER BARBERS AND FRESH NEW TALENTS, WHO TOOK TO THE STAGE TO SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS AND SET THE LATEST TRENDS

Hosted by Danny Robinson and Ollie Hill (on Sunday), the Modern Barber stage saw top barbers share cutting-edge techniques and trends in men’s grooming. Bobby Gordon, founder of Fella Hair, and his Fella team member Ben Pitt demonstrated classic scissor and texture techniques, while Mercedes Paginton showcased a textured mullet, emphasising the importance of sharp lines and proper comb-length for blending and refining shapes.

HAIRFORCE 1

Elettra Guggeri impressed with a movement-filled style using point cutting and slicing techniques, noting the difference between cutting and styling hair. Murdock London’s Stefan Clark highlighted the growing trend of soft, lived-in styles, cutting a wispy fringe with a taper, whilst Charlie Venn presented a classic, soft look, blending the cut with a clipper-over-comb technique, sharing his passion for timeless styles.

RY LEWIS

Toni McCarthy made her debut on the Modern Barber stage, and focused on integrating more styling into men’s cuts. She highlighted preparation and sectioning, using straighteners before clippers to create a bold, 90s-inspired look. Joey Addison joined her on stage, creating a layered, salon-friendly shape on curly hair, inspired by fashion and his client’s personality.

STMNT Ambassador Ry Lewis impressed with his strong scissor work on a wolf cut whilst Charles Rose talked through his curly hair technique. Charles was focused on product layering to avoid drying out the hair and enhancing the cut’s texture.

Meanwhile, Kevin Luchmun and Hayden Cassidy showcased mullet-esque styles and adaptable techniques and the Barber.josh.o.p team presented precision fading tips. Mic Damiano also shared how to ‘de-bulk’ client’s hair using clippers, and blending at the same time. On the final day Menspire demonstrated editorial looks, with Josh Lamonaca revealing his latest collection, “Race,” inspired by his early challenges cutting all hair types.
