DENMAN PROVIDES TOOLS TO HELP VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN ETHIOPIA

Denman has provided tools and brushes to help vulnerable and poverty-stricken children in Ethiopia through the charity, Hope365, and will be offering ongoing gifts as and when required. Hope365 is a charity which rescues and empowers vulnerable boys and girls living on the street in the large town of Shashemene, Ethiopia. Michael Holmes, Chief Executive of Hope365, commented: “These children would never have the opportunity to own their own quality hairbrush and yet they take such pride in how they present themselves. We are very grateful for all the various brushes and combs that Denman has donated to the children in Ethiopia.”

Cambridge Regional College (CRC) has launched a new Barbering Professional Apprenticeship offering; no longer part of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship, it is now recognised as a standalone programme in which apprentices can learn about barbering from the basic skills upwards or, for those already working in the industry, to improve their skillset. Lucy Kaye, Work- Based Learning Manager, commented: “It is great to see this new Barbering Standard offered nationally and we are very proud to be among the first to offer it within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. We are thrilled to add the apprenticeship as a training option for barbers across our region.”

MR. BARBERS TACKLES 24-HOUR CHALLENGE FOR CHARITY

MR. Barbers tackled a non-stop 100km walking challenge in less than 24 hours for Alzheimer’s Research UK, following months of training. The team of seven walked a gruelling 100km loop route through the heart of the Cotswolds. The barbers embarked on the ultimate team endurance event to raise awareness and funds for lifechanging Alzheimers research. “Bathing in the euphoria of pain and the achievement, knowing that growth comes from challenging yourself, I feel myself and this team have levelled up to new heights,” shared Mick Phipps. “Events like this are amazing opportunities to push your limits and realise that you’ve got more than you really thought you had in the locker.”
