Welcome to the July-September issue of Modern Barber. I’m writing this with one eye on the Modern Barber Instagram where hundreds of you have been tagging us in your Reels and pictures from an incredible weekend at Barber Connect.

…But then that wouldn’t leave space to celebrate our Modern Barber Award winners! You can meet this year’s winners on page 17 and if you were lucky enough to be there on the night you might be able to spot yourself in our highlights (head to modernbarber.co.uk for the #modernbarberawards2024 gallery). This year the Modern Barber Awards received the upgrade it (and you) truly deserved with a bigger venue and all the trimmings, including a dress code – and let me tell you, barbers really know how to put on a fashion show.
For those of you who stopped by our Subs Stand at Barber Connect you may have seen a sneak preview of this issue’s cover star, Hayden Cassidy. Hayden has been on my cover wishlist for a long time now, we caught up a month before the show - Hayden at her Mum’s in the suburbs of Dublin and myself in a typically rainy London. As is always the case with Hayden, I was left impressed by someone with an amazing career – and fanbase – but such a humble outlook. Only Hayden would say to me after her spot on the Modern Barber stage “I wasn’t sure how many people would come.” You can read everything she had to say in The Interview on page 46.
Elsewhere, I took a trip to Barcelona for the fourth annual STMNT Summit, take a look behind the scenes on page 14. I also spent the day with BaByliss PRO ambassadors Pete Cranfield and Tariq Howes to shoot our exclusive Ask The Experts feature. Want to know the difference between a taper and a fade or the secret to the perfect blend? Check out their tips on pages 48 and 62.
