A SHAW THING

WELL HELLO!

This is by far the longest period of my adult life that I’ve spent at home, not going out to work and out of my usual routine. If I’m honest, it’s really got to me and I’m not sure I like the idea of retirement in the future! My daily routine has completely changed, so writing this column feels like a very different experience. The one good thing to come out of this is that I’ve become a little more IT competent (I’ve had to!).

So… with no travelling or seminars what was I going to write about?!

Well, one thing I’ve been involved with in lockdown is a virtual chat show called BARBERS ARMS.

As I’m writing this we’re up to episode 20 which seems crazy! Let me break the show down for you: every Friday night live on Facebook and IGTV myself and my co-host Gary Machin talk about the week’s news, have a beer and interview some of the industry’s top barbers and hairdressers.

Guests so far have included Joth Davies, Frank Rimer, Jac Ludlow, Errol Douglas MBE, Jamie Stevens, Van Council and J. Ramos – just to name a few. It’s been great to have a few beers and catch up with some familiar faces, even throughout lockdown. Every week we also give a shout out to local heroes, so make sure you’re watching!

I’m so delighted that to date we’ve had 3 million views! It’s just amazing and I’m incredibly proud. Thank you to everyone who’s tuned into a show. Make sure you catch the next one – head to our Instagram @wahlproUK for details.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ONLINE EDUCATION AND MAKE SURE YOU’RE PREPARED AHEAD OF TIME. PLAN YOUR DAY AND MAKE TIME TO WATCH AND LEARN. IT’S A GOOD IDEA TO INVEST IN EQUIPMENT SUCH AS MANNEQUIN HEADS AND STANDS TO MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

WHAT’S NEXT

We want to take education to the next level and do what’s not been done before. So we’re starting with a global 24-hour online educational event – the first ever!
