THERE’S NO ‘I’ IN TEAM

Teamwork makes the dream work. It’s cheesy, but it’s true. In fact, our cover star Danny May puts his success down to a traditional Italian barbershop that showed him the ropes and a modern barbershop group that moulded him into the confident barber he is today. Read our interview with him on p18. Our first-ever BARBERFEST in July, was a great example of brands and artists coming together to create success in Brighton and Mike Taylor extols the virtues of teamwork in his column on p50. But what happens when barbershop culture turns sour? Find out on p52 how the team at MR Barbers managed to rescue their barbershop back from the brink.

Elsewhere, learn from Dean Gleeson as he re-engages with a client base he’s been neglecting on p48 (why don’t we feature more clients with hair loss on our grids, eh?) and there’s some wise words from Ken Hermes on p26 about what customer service is really all about… the client.

And this issue was a true team effort to put together – you’ve got a new Modern Barber team in place. Charlotte Grant-west continues to be our editor, Eleanor Vousden is now deputy editor and Kieran Read is our content writer. You can find us at Salon International, probably hanging out by the Modern Barber stage – come say hi!
