HAPPY 2021

Happy New Year to you all! And here’s hoping we have more luck in 2021 than in the year to forget: 2020. We’ve still got to do the right thing, but we are certainly in a better position. I’ve got to say, it wasn’t the same when it came to awards season, either presenting or watching. But, big congratulations to the British Hairdressing Award sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional winners, the Modern Barber winners and of course our WAHL British Barber and Barbershop of the Year winners. It’s quite tough at the time of writing this, to know what kind of positive messages to share with you, but I have dug deep and of course come up with a few.

Good luck to all the Modern Barber readers, hope you have the best 2021.

Lots of love, Simon

The SHAW Share

FIRSTLY, IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU SET TARGETS AND GOALS FOR THE YEAR. HAVE THEM WRITTEN DOWN WITH A TIME SCALE AND A PLAN OF HOW YOU’RE GOING TO ACHIEVE THEM. MAKE SURE YOUR TEAM AT EVERY LEVEL HAVE GOALS AND TARGETS TO HIT. I ALSO CHALLENGE YOU ALL TO ADD A NEW SERVICE TO YOUR SHOP. THIS CAN BE EITHER BARBERING OR BEAUTY.

WHAT’S NEXT

Something I worked on in November/December for 2021 was lots of intros into the Wahl Educator Plan. Keep an eye on when exhibitions start and when we’re back up and running. I can’t wait to see you all and be back live in person instead of virtually. Guys, I’ve really missed you!

TOOL CHOICE with SAM CAMPAGNA

WAHL have launched a new Grooming Tools Retail Range; these products are the perfect retail opportunity for barbershops. There are three products in the range, that come in packs of four – ready to retail.

SHAVER – A mini shaver with a single foil, in what I’d call a super-car matte black finish. I love that the Shaver even comes in a metal tin that looks like a shaver foil. This will fly off the shelf.

GROOMING TRAVEL KIT -Comes in a luxurious PU leather pouch and it’s the ultimate travel kit. You’ve got everything in there from your toothbrush to your trimmer.

DETAIL TRIMMER – A nice quality detail trimmer in an aluminium finish. The accessories come packed in a leather-look case. Perfect for on-the-go trimming.
